Gin Bottle

The Village Spirit Co. is a small distillery based in the beautiful South Hams in Devon. We were approached to come up with both the identity for the company and the design of their opening two offerings — a ‘Very Special Gin’ and a ‘Reserve Molasses Rum’.

A characterful typographic solution for the identity was paired with the 3 hares motif found throughout ancient Devon for at least 1,500 years. A warning against sin? A way to advertise good fortune or avert evil influences? No one is certain of their actual meaning!
